Again, starting off with a thank you to everyone who came and shot and everyone who helped out with the field party, it ran really smoothly and could not have asked for a better day!
We hope to see you next year!
The club has recently registered via Archery GB and Give and Win Sport to the following to help raise funds.
Give and Win Sport is a new society lottery which provides a simple way for sport and recreation clubs and organizations to raise funds. It is not the same as the National Lottery. Think of it as an online fundraising raffle – when you buy a ticket for £2 you will be entered into a draw to win cash prizes and £1 of that will go directly to your chosen club. In addition, if you are lucky enough to win our amazing £25,000 jackpot, your nominated club will also receive a £25,000 windfall! The more tickets you buy and the more often you play, the more chances you have to win and more money goes to your club.
So if you fancy a flutter please go to the link below. Please also feel free to pass on this link to friends and family to help raise funds if you would like.
Over the last indoor season we ran an archery improvers course in conjunction with Archery GB, this proved very beneficial to those who took part and so we would like to run a similar course over the summer.
The summer course will consist of 3 x 2 hour sessions. These sessions will consist of slow motion video capture to review technique, basic bow maintenance and tuning and then a final review. Dates and times have yet to be confirmed but will most likely be a Wednesday night or Saturday afternoon.
If you would like to register your interest there will be a flyer put up on the notice board in the big container, please fill in your details on this form or if you don’t have access to the container ask Alan (Dug) Dunnighan to register your interest. Alan is available most club nights and Sunday’s.
After worrying about today and if anyone was going to turn up I think it has been a very good day.
We had about 40 people come and try archery and everyone seemed to have a really good time.
We had a busier morning than afternoon but we could spend some time with each group and give them more that just here is a bow now lets shoot.
I would like to thank everyone who came down and assisted.
Especially thanks to Alan Hudson and Paul Seccombe for helping with the coaching.
Tracy and Adrian who sorted out all of the consent forms and flyers for club info.
Ken Stonley who assisted in the morning getting people ready for the sessions.
Dillon, Gavin and Hannah for assisting with targets and set up and take down.
And everyone else who assisted in any way.
We had the best weather we could have hoped for and all in all it was a good day all round.
This Saturday the club will be hosting the Archery GB big weekend have a go session.
This will be between 10am and 4pm so if anyone is free to come down and lend a hand it would be appreciated.
This has been advertised in local schools and I have had some interest from Scout Groups.
If any of your friends want to come along and have a try this is a good opportunity for them to do so.
I intend to use the left hand side of the field for the have a go session so please be aware of this if you are headed to the field.
Here it is, the Gosforth Arrow to our Jimmy Melvin Weekend!
See you there!
